Hi,
I’m Dr. John Feezell—an innovator, educator, author, and lifelong student of philosophy, religion, economics, and personal faith. My journey began early and evolved through time, leading to an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Religion from Pasadena College (now Point Loma University) and culminating in a Ph.D. in Economics from Claremont Graduate University in California. These studies laid the foundation for my work in both academia and the private sector, where I’ve explored how data, technology, and emerging ideas impact education and business.
Professional Background
With over 28 years in the business world, I’ve had the privilege of designing large-scale survey systems and statistical models for organizations such as USAA, AMICA Insurance, and JC Penney. Additionally, I founded and led my own consulting firm, collaborating with clients to solve complex challenges through data-driven insights. My experience in the corporate sphere complements my academic work, which includes teaching roles at Our Lady of the Lake University, Trinity University, East Texas Baptist University, and LeTourneau University. My focus has always been on empowering students and clients with practical skills grounded in rigorous theory.
Community Engagement and Personal Life
My wife, Judy, and I have called Longview, Texas, home since 1992, when I joined the faculty at LeTourneau University. We have three adult sons, each with families of their own, and six wonderful grandchildren. For many years, we have been part of the faith community at Longview First Assembly of God, Longview, Texas, where I also lead an adult Sunday School class focused on biblical truths. My background in religion and philosophy, along with my life experiences and personal faith, deeply informs my teaching, shaping each lesson from a Spirit-led perspective.
In January 2013, I organized and led a coalition that brought together a community conference on poverty in East Texas. This coalition defined, structured, and conducted The Poverty Conference: Empowering the Poor in East Texas, which took place on October 15, 2013, at the Maude Cobb Center in Longview, Texas, drawing 380 attendees from across the region. This initiative reflected a shared commitment to addressing poverty’s challenges in the 14 counties of East Texas, engaging the community in meaningful dialogue and actionable strategies for empowerment.
